The Most Powerful Intense Pulsed Light for Skin Clarity
Years of sun exposure, rosacea, and age can leave your skin with “chromophores”—the red and brown pigments that cause an uneven, mottled complexion. At Southern Indiana Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery, we use Lumecca™, the strongest Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology available today. Lumecca delivers up to three times more energy in the peak treatment range than standard IPLs, meaning you get dramatic results in just 1 to 2 sessions rather than the usual 4 to 6.
What is Lumecca?
Lumecca is a breakthrough “photofacial” that uses broad-spectrum light to target specific colors in the skin. When the light hits the red of a broken capillary or the brown of a sunspot, it converts into heat and selectively destroys the pigment without harming the surrounding tissue.
Because of its high peak power, Lumecca is incredibly efficient at treating:
- Sun Damage & Age Spots: Fading dark “liver spots” and freckles.
- Vascular Lesions: Erasing spider veins, telangiectasias, and cherry angiomas.
- Rosacea: Calming persistent facial redness and flushing.
- Skin Texture: Stimulating subtle collagen production for a smoother, brighter glow.
Why Choose SIAPS for Your Lumecca Treatment?
A “photofacial” is only as good as the technology and the technician behind it.
- Superior Power, Fewer Visits: While other clinics use older IPL systems that require half a dozen visits, Lumecca at SIAPS often provides a “wow” result after just one or two treatments.
- Safety for Light to Medium Skin: Lumecca is optimized for Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV. Dr. Jackson and Dr. Grow ensure that your settings are precisely calibrated to your specific skin tone to prevent any adverse effects.
- Comfort & Precision: Lumecca features a built-in sapphire cooling tip that stays cold against your skin, significantly reducing the “rubber band snap” sensation common with other IPLs.
- Comprehensive Rejuvenation: We often combine Lumecca with Morpheus8 or CoolPeel to address both the color (pigment) and the texture (wrinkles) of your skin in one comprehensive plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
During the procedure, you will see a bright flash of light and feel a sensation like a tiny rubber band snapping against the skin. Most patients find it very tolerable and do not require numbing cream.
Many patients see a significant improvement in skin clarity after just one session. For optimal results, especially with deep sun damage or vascular redness, a series of 1 to 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is usually recommended.
Lumecca is a "zero-downtime" procedure. You may experience slight redness for a few hours. Over the next 24–48 hours, your brown spots will darken—this is often called the "coffee grounds" phase. These spots will naturally flake off within 7 to 10 days, revealing clear, fresh skin underneath.
While the face is most common, Lumecca is excellent for any sun-exposed area, including the neck, décolletage (chest), hands, and arms.
Sun damage and pigment results are typically visible within 1 to 2 weeks. Vascular results (redness and veins) can take up to 2 weeks to fully fade as the body reabsorbs the treated vessels.
